About Charles Zappala

Charles R. Zappala, Esq is an established Pittsburgh business leader who guides SUMMA Group, LLC, where he maintains a focus on energy technology and real estate development investments. In the latter realm, he has focused on commercial properties, completing projects ranging from office buildings to retail shopping for a total of 800,000 square feet. Mr. Zappala began his career as a founding principal of the regional investment bank Russell Rea & Zappala, Inc. He guided the bank since 1978, which provided debt underwriting, corporate finance, and cash and money management services for more than two decades. The company held distinction as the largest taxable and tax-exempt debt underwriter in Pennsylvania several times in 1980s and 1990s. He maintains a strong community presence and has served on multiple charitable and civic boards including St. Bernard’s Parish Council, the Allegheny County Regional Asset District Board (RAD), NEED, NCCJ, Notre Dame Club of Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh Youth Symphony.
